Sustainability Performance Measures
Jarden Plastic Solutions is striving to meet its goal of using 5% less energy across
each manufacturing facility. This goal is 82% in progress and is on track to be
completed by the end of 2016.
- All facilities will have replaced
old lighting fixtures and bulbs with new, energy efficient devices by the end of
- Several facilities are evaluating new equipment for energy efficient purposes
and monitoring current machines to ensure they utilize the optimal power supply.
- Old air conditioning units have been replaced and new thermostats installed that
are set to timers to reduce needs on nights and weekends.
- Signs are posted throughout
the facilities to remind employees to switch-off lights when not in use.
Jarden Plastic Solutions is striving to meet its goal of using 5% less water across

Closed loop chilled and
tower water systems reduce the amount of water usage at each facility.
- Facilities are evaluating the installation of low water flow toilets for restrooms.
Jarden Plastic Solutions is reevaluating corrugate packaging and implementing
redesigns to reduce total packaging material by 4%. These redesigns will also result
in reductions for freight and storage space saving nearly 2% in supply chain costs
and 890,000 gallons of fuel.
- Cardboard packaging, polythene
free from contamination, gaylords, and pallets are either recycled or resold by
each facility when possible.
Jarden Plastic Solutions recognizes
the importance of preventing the loss of resin pellets into the environment and
we are committed to implementing the Operation Clean Sweep® program and striving
towards zero pellet loss. To help us reach this goal, we are working with our customers to reduce, regrind and recycle resin used for their products. Our goal is to turn
that recycled resin into a savings of over 6,000,000lbs from going into landfills
- Recycling stations are positioned throughout each
facility for employees to recycle plastic, aluminium, office stationary, and toner
